In-store demonstrators and retail brand ambassadors

In-store demonstrators show customers how a product works and help them buy it. Our in-store brand ambassadors and product specialists work from a launch weekend to a national rollout.

We put trained in-store demonstrators in front of customers in shops, at consumer shows and at festivals, for brands, for retailers and for the agencies running programmes for them.

Everyone is trained through our Play Retail Academy before their first shift, on your product and from your materials, and a named contact on our side looks after store managers and your team.

Planning notes.

  1. 01

    Train before the first shift

Demonstrators practise on the product before day one, so nobody learns on the job in front of customers.

  2. 02

    Staff the peaks

Black Friday and the holiday season need different cover from a quiet weekday, so we plan hours by footfall, store by store.

  3. 03

    Decide who owns the kit

Agree who charges, stores and signs for demo units in each store.

  4. 04

    Agree the numbers up front

Whether it’s shifts, demonstrations, sales or feedback, we agree what gets reported before launch and only report what we can measure.

Play Retail Academy.

Play Retail Academy is our training programme for product specialists. It covers the product itself, how to demonstrate it to different customers and how to sell honestly. We also train your own store teams, and the people who train them.

  • Product training built from your materials
  • Demonstration practice before the first shift
  • Train-the-trainer sessions for your store teams

What we need from you.

  • Store or venue list, dates and opening hours
  • Product samples or demo units, and who looks after them
  • Training materials and any product experts we can learn from
  • Store contacts and access arrangements
  • What you want reported, and how often

FAQs.

Do you work with retailers or brands?

Both. We work as an in-store promotions agency for brands and retailers, and for agencies running programmes for them, including white label.

Can you cover lots of stores at once?

Yes. This is field marketing at scale: for a UK and Ireland VR headset launch we ran 2,750+ shifts in 59 stores, from launch day to Christmas.

Do you report on results?

Yes, reporting is built in. On our VR and smart glasses work every shift was logged in a field app with photos, and we tracked demos per hour, conversion, attach rate and revenue. We agree what you need at the start.
