How do you hire multilingual event staff?

Start by working out which roles need which languages, then recruit where the event is.

Multilingual event staff are hosts, greeters and ambassadors who can work in more than one language. They matter most where guests arrive and where they ask for help.

Recruit where the event is

For events abroad we recruit a local team in the country. You get native speakers who also know the city, without the cost of flying a team out.

Checklist

  • Languages listed per role, not for the whole team
  • Fluency checked during recruitment
  • Multilingual staff at arrivals and help desks first
  • Key messages translated before the day
